DDIV NFL Mock Draft 2.0- Round 1

1. Cincinnati Bengals (2-14)

Joe Burrow returns to Ohio and Cincy gets their new franchise QB.
1. Joe Burrow, QB, LSU
6-4 221 Jr.

2. Washington Redskins (3-13)

Washington gets an edge rusher of a lifetime and the best prospect in this draft in Chase Young. The Hyattsville, MD native gets to return to the D.C. area.
2. Chase Young, DE/OLB, Ohio State
6-5 264 Jr.

3. Miami Dolphins- from DET (3-12-1)

If the Dolphins want Tua, they’ll need to trade up to this spot to make sure they get him. The Lions would love to trade down. And they’ll go to 6 if the Chargers make the better offer.
3. Tua Tagavailoa, QB, Alabama
6-0 217 Jr.

4. Jacksonville Jaguars- from NYG (4-12)

As much as Isaiah Simmons would be valuable to the Giants, they need a left tackle above all else. And I have a feeling their phones will be ringing for Isaiah Simmons. A real impact player in a speedy and versatile safety or backer that excels in coverage. You can’t understate Simmons’ value in today’s NFL.
4. Isaiah Simmons, OLB/S, Clemson
6-4 238 Jr.

5. Detroit Lions- from MIA (4-12)

The Lions shouldn’t have any problem trading down to get the best man-to-man defender in the draft. The Lions must improve their defensive backfield. Okudah is a big, fast, physical corner.
5. Jeff Okudah, CB, Ohio State
6-1 205 Jr.

6. LA Chargers (5-11)

The Chargers could trade up for Tua, or they can sit back and get their franchise QB if they’re okay with it being Herbert. Herbert is an experienced 4 year starter with great size, arm strength, and mobility. We saw his guts when he ran for 3 TDs in the Rose Bowl won over Wisconsin this season. I think he’ll be a good fit in LA.
6. Justin Herbert, QB, Oregon
6-6 236 Sr.

7. Carolina Panthers (5-11)

The Panthers ranked 29th in rush defense last season. Finding a way to stop the run has to be the priority with this pick. There are some concerns about Brown’s pass rush ability, but he proved himself to be a beast in the run game this past season and should make an immediate impact in the league.
7. Derrick Brown, DT, Auburn
6-5 326 Sr.

8. Arizona Cardinals (5-10-1)

The Cardinals are in a perfect spot to take care of their main priority, protecting Kyler Murray. Originally I had them taking the more proven left tackle in Tristen Wirfs. Although Wills played right tackle at Alabama, he was protecting Tua’s blind side. And Wills is versatile, which can’t hurt. He also displays superior strength. The reason I think Wills is the best fit in Arizona is because he is used to protecting a short, mobile quarterback in Tua Tagavailoa. I see a lot of similarities in Tua and Kyler Murray.
8. Jedrick Wills Jr., OT, Alabama
6-4 312 Jr.

9. New York Giants- from JAC (6-10)

The Giants can trade down and get the left tackle they need to protect Daniel Jones. Wirfs showed impressive athleticism at the combine for such a big offensive lineman.
9. Tristen Wirfs, OT, Iowa
6-5 320 Jr.

10. Cleveland Browns (6-10)

Thomas’ numbers don’t jump off the sheet like Wirfs or Wills, but he proved himself to be a consistent left tackle for Jake Fromm at Georgia. I’d be shocked if the Browns didn’t go left tackle with this pick. They really struggled to protect Baker Mayfield last season and have yet to replace Joe Thomas since his retirement.
10. Andrew Thomas, OT, Georgia

11. New York Jets (7-9)

Either offensive tackle or wide receiver would make sende here for the Jets. Looking at the guys on the board, I’d be more excited to get one of the elite playmakers on the outside than Mekhi Becton if I’m Sam Darnold. The Jets have been looking for an elite no. 1 WR since ‘Nam. Jeudy looks to part.
11. Jerry Jeudy, WR, Alabama
6-1 193 Jr.

12. Las Vegas Raiders (7-9)

Sitting at #12, Jon Gruden has to be salivating over all these receivers that could be available. CeeDee Lamb is a dangerous deep threat that made plays consistently for the Sooners and is capable of monster games.
12. CeeDee Lamb, WR, Oklahoma
6-2 198 Jr.

13. San Francisco 49ers- from IND (7-9)

The Niners have traded DT DeForest Buckner to the Colts for this pick. I would assume their trying to get one of these weapons at WR. After losing Emmanuel Sanders to the Saints, the Niners are likely looking to replace himS If it was Jeudy or Lamb that they were targeting, the Niners likely would’ve gotten higher in the draft with the Jets and Raiders sitting at 11 and 12. I think the Niners are interested in the fastest player in the draft. Ruggs, Alabama’s no. 2 option across Jeudy ran a 4.27 at the combine.
Henry Ruggs III, WR, Alabama
5-11 188 Jr.

14. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (7-9)

Although there are some pieces that Tampa would like to add around the offense around Tom Brady, they also need to address their defensive backfield in this draft. McKinney seems to be the safest pick of all safeties in this draft. An elite athlete, McKinney had the combine numbers as well as the production at Alabama. McKinney is versatile and is also valuable as a slot corner.
Xavier McKinney, DB, Alabama
6-0 201 Jr.

15. Minnesota Vikings- from DEN (7-9)

With Mekhi Becton still on the board, GMs are going to start getting big eyes for an all-around beast at right tackle. The Vikings have two picks, and have shown that they have a vested interested in the first round of this draft. I think they make the call to trade up. The Vikings should be able to run the ball very well with the huge yet fast Becton and Dalvin Cook in the backfield. Becton will also help improve the pass protection for Kirk Cousins which was poor at times. Even as huge as he is, Becton showed bizarre athleticism at the combine, making his stock blow up.
Mekhi Becton, OT, Lousiville
6-7 364 Jr.

16. Atlanta Falcons (8-8)

The Falcons have shown that pass rush is a priority, already adding Dante Fowler in free agency on the outside. The Falcons can now add what appears to be a freakish interior pass rusher. Don’t be fooled by Kinlaw being a big DT, this guy is a freak athlete and can get to the quarterback. This is a steal for the Falcons at 16 and a great fit.
16. Javon Kinlaw, DT, South Carolina
6-5 324 Sr.

17. Dallas Cowboys (8-8)

After losing Robert Quinn to free agency, the Cowboys need an edge rusher to replace him opposite of Demarcus Lawrence.
17. K’Lavon Chaisson, DE/OLB, LSU
6-3 254 So.

18. Miami Dolphins- from PIT (9-7)

Here’s the Dolphins’ pay day for the Minkah Fitzpatrick trade. If they’re going to set Tua up for success, they need to get him some weapons. Johnathan Taylor will certainly provide balance with a consistent run game, but is also very valuable in catching the ball out of the backfield. He seems to be the most complete back in the draft.
18. Johnathan Taylor, RB, Wisconsin
5-10 226 Jr.

19. Las Vegas Raiders- from CHI (9-7)

After going WR with their first pick, I’d expect the Raiders to turn to their defense. Linebacker has been a need for the Raiders for a long time. They have added some guys, but a guy like Kenneth Murray would be huge. Murray shows great athleticism and I think he will excel against the run and the pass.
19. Kenneth Murray, ILB, Oklahoma
6-3 241 Jr.

20. Jacksonville Jaguars- from LAR (9-7)

The Jaguars aren’t finished adding first-round talent to their defense. They got this pick my trading away Jalen Ramsey, and they’ll use it to replace him.
20. CJ Henderson, CB, Florida
6-1 204 Jr.

21. Philadelphia Eagles (9-7)

The Eagles need playmakers on the outside. I’m hearing a lot about Tee Higgins here. I think that would be a mistake. Jefferson is the better route runner, is more physical, and in my opinion is much tougher. Jefferson is a winner. That’s what the Eagles need.
21. Jordan Jefferson, WR, LSU
6-1 202 Jr.

22. Denver Broncos- from BUF (10-6) via MIN

With Henry Ruggs off the board at 15 and Mekhi Becton still on it, I think the Broncos will opt to trade down to try to get the receiver they’re looking for. They had success with the Colorado product in Phillip Lindsay, why not try another Buffalo? Shenault has more than enough strength and physicality to play at this level and runs excellent routes.
22. Leviska Shenault, WR, Colorado
6-1 227 Jr.

23. New England Patriots (12-4)

I previously had the Patriots taking Jordan Love here. But I no longer feel that he is a fit for Bill Belichick. I think they’ll look to linebacker here. Queen has excellent speed and coverage skills, has been rising up draft boards since winning the national championship. I also think he can play inside or outside. Belichick loves versatile players.
23. Patrick Queen, LB, LSU
6-0 229 Jr.

24. New Orleans Saints (13-3)

The Saints will have to replace Vonn Bell and Eli Apple in the defensive backfield.
24. Grant Delpit, S, LSU
6-3 213 Jr.

25. Minnesota Vikings (10-6)

With two picks in the first round, Minnesota should turn to their defense. A power rusher like AJ Epenesa seems like a good fit and provides good value at 25.
AJ Epenesa, DE, Iowa
6-5 275 Jr.

26. Miami Dolphins- from HOU (11-5)

The Dolphins are going to have to look to the offensive line, but I don’t think they can pass on a first-round quality defensive back here.
26. Khristian Fulton, CB, LSU
6-0 197 Sr.

27. Seattle Seahawks (11-5)

The Seahawks must prioritize protecting Russell Wilson. Pete Carroll can’t pass on the USC prospect at left tackle.
27. Austin Jackson, OT, USC
6-5 322 Jr.

28. Baltimore Ravens (14-2)

The Ravens need edge rushers, and there’s a good one available. Gross-Matos would be a great fit in Baltimore if he falls to them.
28. Yetur Gross-Matos, DE/OLB, Penn State
6-5 266 Jr.

29. Tennessee Titans (9-7)

The Titans need a no. 2 receiver opposite of AJ Brown. Higgins is a Tennessee native and I think he will fall a bit. Higgins is long and fast, will win jump balls.
29. Tee Higgins, WR, Clemson
6-4 216 Jr.

30. Green Bay Packers (13-3)

The Packers need more reliable targets for Aaron Rodgers other than Davante Adams. Mims is a vertical threat and showed out at the combine in running a 4.37, especially impressive considering his size.
30. Denzel Mims, WR, Baylor
6-3 207 Sr.

31. San Francisco 49ers (13-3)

The Niners could add a young corner. Richard Sherman would make a great mentor for Trevon Diggs for a year or two as Diggs hopefully blossoms into a no. 1 shutdown corner. Diggs could also provide some value in the return game and could be athletic enough to get involved in the offense if Shanahan wants to get creative.
31. Trevon Diggs, CB, Alabama
6-1 205 Sr.

32. Kansas City Chiefs (12-4)

I’d expect the Chiefs to improve their defensive front with this pick.
32. Neville Gallimore, DT, Oklahoma
6-2 304 Sr.
