Sun Belt Runners Up that did not get their rematch with Coastal Carolina, who they lost to 30-27. This game could be rescheduled yet. This team has a 31-14 win @Iowa State (Big 12 Runner-Up) week 1.
Analysis: Big Southern territory matchup here in the Sugar Bowl. Louisiana is on the come up. They get a chance to go against the big dogs in round 1.
Prediction: 52-31 Bama
Rose Bowl: Pasadena, CA
2. Ohio State Buckeyes (6-0 Big Ten Champ)
Ohio State wins the Big Ten. They become the only Power 5 to go undefeated in the regular season beside Bama.
Vs.
15. Oregon Ducks (4-2 Pac-12 Champs)
Although having 2 losses in a half season, the Pac-12 title gives the Ducks a chance to play in the Rose Bowl against Ohio State.
Analysis: The Buckeyes are willing to step up to the questions that the college football world has for them. Their first test: the 4-2 Oregon Ducks. Wait didn’t they already lose to OSU? No, that was the 2-4 Oregon State Beavers in the Civil War. Let’s keep the history of the Rose Bowl this season with this matchup! The Ducks get their chance in this bracket only because they are the Pac-12 Champs. The Ducks beat then-undefeated USC 31-24.
Prediction: 38-14 Ohio State
Miami Gardens, FL
3. Clemson (10-1 ACC Champs)
The Tigers climb with the win over the foe of their only loss, Notre Dame. Clemson snaps Notre Dame’s undefeated season with a 34-10 win and leaves the Irish wondering if they will be left out of the top 4.
Vs.
14. Northwestern Wildcats (6-2)
The Big Ten Runners Up hung in with the Buckeyes a gave themselves a second chance to play, and play a huge game against the returning national champ. This could be an opportunity for Clemson to make a statement against the team that Ohio State trailed to at the half in the Big Ten Championship. Northwestern’s other loss was ugly: Michigan State.
Analysis: Clemson will show its speed on defense in this one.
Prediction: 30-10 Clemson
Fiesta Bowl: Tempe, AZ
4. Notre Dame Fighting Irish (10-1)
The ACC Runners-Up had a regular season win over Clemson (when Clemson didn’t have Trevor Lawrence because of COVID). They did get hammered by Clemson in round 2. They get a chance to prove themselves against the team with the best record in the Pac-12.
Vs.
13 USC Trojans (5-1)
The Trojans dropped their first loss of the season in the Pac-12 championship this past week as they were upset by Oregon. They get a second chance to show they have arrived against a familiar foe in the Fiesta Bowl.
Analysis: What a matchup in the Fiesta Bowl! Let us see these rivals compete this season! We want to know!
Prediction: 24-17 USC
Citrus Bowl- Orlando, FL
5. Cincinnati Bearcats (9-0)
Cincy had one hell of a season. Look out for this team. I was tempted to rank them ahead of Notre Dame.
Vs.
12. Georgia Bulldogs (7-2)
The Bulldogs seem to be peaking late in the season. A threatening SEC team. Could they be a threat to Cincy?
Analysis: I think Cincy is for real.
Prediction: 27-21 Cincinnati
Chick-Fil-A Peach Bowl: Atlanta, GA
6. Texas A&M Aggies (8-1)
Only loss for the Aggies this season came week 2 against Alabama in a 24-52 home loss, playing in the strong SEC.
Vs.
11 Florida Gators (8-3)
Florida put up a good fight against Bama warranting them this rematch to make A&M prove that they belong in the top 10.
Analysis: Folks, this is a rematch you want to see. Florida hung tight against top-ranked Bama in the SEC championship. Can they avenge another loss against Texas A&M. I bet they believe they could!
Prediction: 45-38 Florida
Belk Bowl: Charlotte, NC
7. Coastal Carolina Chanticleers (11-0 Sun Belt Champs)
With wins over BYU and Louisiana, this team looks legit. Is the Sun Belt really for real?
Vs.
10. Oklahoma Sooners (8-2 Big 12 Champs)
The Sooners came up big in downing the Cyclones of Iowa State in the Big 12 title. They seem to be peaking at the right time. The Texas and Oklahoma State wins were convincing.
Analysis: I think this would be a war. I’ll take Oklahoma in a shootout in Charlotte.
Prediction: 52-48 Oklahoma
Cotton Bowl- Dallas, TX
8. Indiana Hoosiers (6-1)
The Hoosiers have been negatively effected by COVID late in the season but have looked legit all season with their lone loss coming by a touchdown to Ohio State.
Vs.
9. San Jose State Spartans (6-0 Mountain West Champ)
The Spartans beat Boise State by two TDs in the Mountain West Championship. Let’s see what they can do against one of this season’s Big Ten elites.
Analysis: This game will be scrappy. Hoosiers on athleticism.
